The beautiful lines of today’s Cecchetti trained dancers
This internationally distinguished method of ballet instruction is steeped in tradition yet uniquely relevant to today’s dancers. Rooted in the science of anatomy, Cecchetti students are well educated in how to properly and safely achieve ballet movement. Developing a thorough understanding of correct placement and movement is critical in order for dancers to protect themselves from the physical injuries prevalent in the current dance climate of hypermobility and pushing young bodies beyond healthy limits.
The Cecchetti Method was created by the greatest ballet teacher of the late 19th to early 20th century, Enrico Cecchetti. It was believed to be said during his time that no dancer was truly considered “finished” without passing through Cecchetti’s hands.
Cecchetti’s exceptional method of ballet training has been carefully preserved and passed down through generations. Today’s Cecchetti teachers are rigorously trained, mentored, and held to a high standard of teaching quality and continual learning.
Dancers trained with the Cecchetti Method exhibit clean lines, speed and extraordinary agility. With an emphasis on quality of movement over quantity, Cecchetti-trained students are equipped as precise, self-reliant dancers and possess the versatility required in today’s professional dance environment.
Regional
The Southwest Committee of the Cecchetti Council of America (SWCCA) is Classical Ballet School’s regional council. The SWCCA hosts weekend seminars twice a year to give students the opportunity to increase their technical skills and earn scholarships to future seminars. Regional seminars are held in Oklahoma or the neighboring states of Texas, Kansas, Arkansas and Missouri.
National
The Cecchetti Council of America is dedicated to preserving the Cecchetti method of classical ballet and providing teacher training in the method. The mentorship model of education is used, and in addition to passing sequential exams, a thorough knowledge of ballet history, anatomy and music instruction is required for teachers seeking CCA Certification.
